The 4th of December of 2024, a representation of researchers from the Environment and Bioproducts Group of the University of Alcalá was present at the National Environmental Congress, where the ZeroLandFilling project was presented.

Sergio David González took part in the technical session on municipal waste, where he explained the objectives and actions of this project.
The LIFE ZeroLandFilling project (2024-2027) “Valorization of landfill waste through an innovative and integrated process committed to the circular economy” seeks to address the environmental and economic problem of landfill waste.
This project will develop an innovative system to manage non-recyclable waste, such as plastics and bio-waste, valorizing it into green naphtha and biochar. With a budget of 5 million euros, this project, partly financed by the EU, will be developed in Loeches (Madrid) led by FCC Medio Ambiente and a consortium of companies and institutions: Mancomunidad del Este de Madrid, CEPSA, Neoliquid Advanced Biofuels and Biochemicals SL, ECOCUADRADO, Fundación General Universidad de Alcalá.
In the following video you can see the intervention related to this project.
