Lecture on chemical recycling of waste at the University of Alcalá

On the 23rd of January of 2025, Ana González, member of the Neoliquid Advanced Biofuels and Biochemicals team, one of the partners of the ZeroLandFilling project, gave a lecture at the University of Alcalá, within the framework of a Phd program aimed at researchers, professors and Phd students.

The presentation included a brief introduction to the typology of waste, separation, types of treatment and statistics on the origin and destination of such waste, followed by a focus on the chemical recycling process, the different compounds resulting from this treatment and their possible applications, as well as the environmental benefits of the application of this technology.

The presentation dealt with the recovery of non-recyclable waste from the residual fraction and its valorization as secondary raw material, for its transformation into other products, such as char and naphtha.

With this lecture, the dissemination and communication actions of the ZeroLandFilling project are extended, to make known its objectives and actions, in this case aimed at the university community, with a specialized audience.

Among the attendees, very interesting questions and reflections arose about consumption models, sustainability, education and public awareness, issues that are increasingly important to move towards a more robust circular economy model, and more established in our society.
